Let our children enjoy the cold outdoors
As we approach winter and many parents and children are waiting outside in the cold, rain and dark I encourage you to rug up and enjoy positive outdoor experiences. I am a fan of the Forest Schools of Europe where learning, play and mealtimes are outdoors in all weathers giving the children opportunities to learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks and most importantly to use their own initiative to solve problems and co-operate with others. >> Click for further info

Magic Toyshop - Rainbow Ballet Theme
We’re now into week three of a favourite theme and each week the class plans are inspired by; Angelina Ballerina, Fairies, Princesses, Musical Toys, Jack in the Box, Pinocchio, Dressing Table Ornaments, Toyshop Garden, Mermaids and a Dress-Up Box Adventure. As you can see the weekly themes are often a literal toyshop experience and others we go off on tangents to add variety to the development of skills.
Primary & Grade 1 are now thoroughly enjoying the repetitive and technical aspects of their class. For Primary this is greatly helped by the introduction of a new syllabus from the Royal Academy of Dance, which is more dynamic, simple and creative than the previous one.
I’m sure ‘old school’ ballet teachers will not enjoy but our dancers certainly are. Grade 1 and Primary will sit an exam/assessment in September. >> Visit RAD site
Many hours are spent each week creating individual classes for the many children (& parents) to enjoy, some work better than others; our program is a work in progress.
Often a class doesn’t run to plan as preventable disruptions occur which I want to make all families mindful of. Lets avoid; eating in class, bringing too many visitors, lecturing children to ‘do it right’, talking to others or on mobile, watching tv before attending class.

Coffee and Books
Recently I have discovered the acquired taste of coffee and though barista I am not, I have struggled to find an enjoyable brew until now - Katipo at 101 Bondi Rd, Bondi is a great café decked out in 70’s style with plenty of brown couches, bad artworks (unfortunately) and lots of space for families to move around. The food is great too. Whilst there read a new & controversial book The Slap by Christos Tsiolkas (I’m half way through.) Warning it’s a tough read, it will get you quite worked up. >> More info
